What to decorate a Christmas Tree with
First Note: this is not your average tree, yet it is your average, daily life that's about to be put up on a tree.
Ever wondered what are ornaments for, what do they really symbolize? And why do we decorate a tree with them? Most of us probably hang them up for fun, for the joy of Christmas, for the beauty of the holidays. Well, we might think about the last ornament on the very top of the tree itself, the last star, the most important decoration of them all, realizing it is for the meaning of the Lord Himself that we put up the tree.
There is a habit, however, of forgetting that throughout the whole year we have experienced a lot of happenings, blessings, situations, coincidences, help from unexpected people and so on. That's when we could assimilate a few of the ornaments with these very situations.
Another set of ornaments could be attributed to the fact that God is present in our lives whether we realize it or not, and so it is important to place a "thank you" globe or an "angel", or the Mary and Joseph pieces up on the tree.
Now, how about placing something that tells about you? Have you been considerate or thoughtful throughout the course of the year? Have you inspired anyone? Have you strung along a sequence of greatness or of great results that you'd have great pleasure of reflecting over once the new year will come knocking with newer and tougher times?
And, so, we arrive at the candles... What shall we put up on the tree and light it up, give it some inspirited life with? How about the ones we've lost, the ones we'll remember forever, the ones who inspired us, the ones who have become our newest friends over the past year, and the ones who need our prayers for the year ahead, even the enemies, for they need prayers too, as good overcomes evil every time... and that's the spirit of Christmas too...
Goodness is not reflected through the richness of the tree but the greatness of it, the seeds of it, the meanings which are important only to you or to your family.
Second Note: do we really need a tree every Christmas?
This is quite a loaded question, but the answer lies within you, within your mind, your heart and your walk of life. If your walk reflects an accomplished way, if your mind understands exactly who is, where is it situated and how is the real tree raised up for, and the heart is at peace with it without any conditions, then you do not need a visual, for it is the faith that satisfies the soul, ultimately it is the main reason for the season who needs to be exalted on high... Christ, the Lord, thy God.
And that's Christmas in a nutshell. You can place this nutshell in your Christmas tree
